Bruce Campbell wanted an unconventional home and showed you some amazing images where he's living. Bruce Campbell is a retired engineer from Hillsboro Oregon and he loves planes. He has all its life and he believes planes can be a lot more useful than just flying passengers from destination to destination. This 64 year old plane enthusiast, he purchased a 10 acre piece of land when he was in his early 20s. It cost him about twenty $23,000 and is located deep in the forests of Hillsborough. He bought the land with a specific purpose in mind. He was going to build himself an unconventional home out there at first. He was going to build himself a house out there using several freight trains, when he heard somebody else had done that though. His plans changed, he wanted something unique one of a kind. Well Bruce heard about a woman named Joanne asuri about 20 years.

After he purchased the land, she was a hair dresser from Mississippi, who bought a Boeing 747 plane and turned it into her home. Well that's what led him to consider building his own airplane home. He had the land but he needed to get the money to buy a plane and then get that plane onto his property that wasn't gonna be cheap in Olympic Airways based at the Athens Airport. The plane itself cost him $100,000 after he bought the plane. He had find some way to get it deep into the woods of Oregon. It was an expensive job in fact it actually cost him more to transport the plane to the property than to buy the plane itself $120, 000 just to get the plane to his land. It took several men to take the wings of the plane apart. It was the only way to get it into that secluded piece of land. They had to take the wings apart so that they could be easily reinstalled, when the plane was back in the forest. Well Bruce worked for years on the fuselage, he wanted to make it his permanent home.

While he was working on the plane he lived in Freight vans that he had nearby the project was not nearly as easy as Bruce was hoping. It would be while he was doing work on the plane the van, where he was living became infested with mice and that meant he was forced to move into the plane a little before scheduled without a building permit when he moved into the plane. He got an idea of how much space he would actually have him there he never really drew up any plans for the Boeing 727 when he moved in. Now he got a clear vision he knew that removing the seats would give him a lot more room more than enough to live. Bruce didn't want just the inside of the plane to look amazing though, he wanted the outside to look great too and that meant he would need to pressure wash the exterior of the plane and that might sound easy but it took him a full four days to get the whole exterior clean. This wasn't just a one-time job he says that he needs to wash the plane like that every two years and he has to use ladders to get to the engines at the top of the plane. It's a dangerous job too but for him well worth the risk. Bruce was sure that he could make a palace out of his plane and he wanted to make use of the planes equipment and that meant he kept the cockpit intact with the instruments in the controls he also wanted to keep the flight stairs the airplanes bathroom the LED lighting and the original seating to get on the plane. You would use the airplanes original folding stairwell the same way the passengers did when the plane was still in use. Bruce details were important in the front of the plane he had a slipper and shoe rack the glass floor of the aircraft pretty dirty very easily. Since the plane is so large he tries to keep it clean as best he can that means if he and his guests they're only allowed to wear socks on the plane no shoes. He sleeps on a futon and he cooks with a microwave a toaster oven and he often eats cereal and cold foods he has two bathrooms on the plane and the shower is located near the back that makes it possible for him to have running hot water using a trench that he dug and he rerouted a well and a power line Bruce converted the cockpit to a reading and entertainment area.

His home has everything he could ever need and you should see what it looks like at night when all the windows are lit up Bruce's home looks incredible. He might not be able to cook gourmet meals on his plane but he's doing just fine he loves his plane in the forest.
